Please what does it mean by being a doctor of the church?

I'm surprised that you have never given me an answer yet.

First of all, I didn't respond because, as you will have seen from another posting, we inadvertently lost a number of comments - yours among them.

A Doctor of the Church, which St. Francis de Sales is, is someone who has taught the faith in a unique and insightful way. All people can deepen their faith by reading him or her. Read SFdS's "Introduction to the Devout Life," and you'll see what I mean.

In the 2000+ years of the Church, there have only been 33 doctors (3 of them, women).
