On 6 January 1997, the Pope John Paul II declared 2 February to be World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life. He had a threefold intention in this commemoration. First, that the day -- the Feast of the Presentation of our Lord (Candlemas) -- be a day of thanksgiving for the gift of consecrated life. Secondly, that the people of God grow in knowledge and understanding of consecrated life as a vocation which invites men and women to intensify the baptismal promises that were made for them. Lastly, that this Feast day be a day for consecrated men and women to celebrate together "the marvels which the Lord has accomplished in them." This year, as we celebrate the Presentation of the Lord and reflect upon the gift of our vocation as daughters of prayer and daughters of the Church, we recognize our newest solemnly professed member, Sister Leonie Therese who made her final profession on 15 October 2005.
